Abstract

The F2 generation of different populations considering C-152 x KM-l as base population were evaluated for comparing their relative efficiency in releasing transgressive segregants for yield and its components. The combination of hybridization and mutation {F2M2 proved to be superior to other populations in producing greater frequency of transgressive segregants for individual traits as well as for combination of characters including seed yield. The double cross mating scheme was least promising in this regard.
