Abstract

Upoxygenase (LOX) activity was measured in germinating green gram seedlings. The expression of LOX enzyme in different tissues at different stages of development showed a complex pattern of developmental expression with maximum in tissues that are very active metabolically such as young rapidly growing seedlings, flowers and developing seeds. The increased levels of lipoxygenases during seed development suggest that the enzyme may play a physiological role during maturation process.
