Growth, yield and yield atiributes of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L) cultivars as influenced by gypsum application
Abstract
The experiment was conducted during summer and subsequent rainy (kharif seasons of 2000–2001 in lower Gangetic plains of West Bengal. The results revealed that among the three levels (0, 200 and 400 kg ha−1) of gypsum, 400 kg ha−1 was found to be most suitable for all the tested cultivars in both the seasons. Among the tested cultivars (58–11, ICGS-49, ICGS-44, ICGV-86699, 8–95, TG-22 and JL-241, JL-24 recorded highest plant height but pod per plant, kernel per pod, pod and haulmyields were found higher with cultivar ICGS-49 followed by ICGS-44 and it was lowest with TG-22. However, the 100-kernel weight was highest in 8–95. Thus, cultivar ICG5–49 and ICGS-44 were found to give better performance with gypsum applied @ 400 kg ha−1.
