Residual effect of stubble management practices in rabi rice on yield of black gram, nutrient uptake and available nutrient status in soil

Abstract

In a field experiment conducted at Coimbatore in summer season 2000 to study the residual effect of stubble management practices applied to transplanted rice on nutrient uptake as well as yield of succeeding blackgram and on nutrient availability in soil. Higher pod, seed and haulm yields and nutrient uptake of residual blackgram were recorded under incorporation of stubble which improved availability of nutrients in the soil. Incorporation of FYM @ 5 t ha−1 along with stubbles resulted in higher nutrient uptake and yield of residual blackgram which maintained maximum nutrient availability in the soil. Incorporation of stubble with no stubble management practice (recommended dose of N alone) recorded lower nutrient uptake, yields of blackgram and reduced post harvest soil fertility status.
