Abstract

Diallel analysis was done using 21 F1s obtained from 7x7 diallel mating design excluding reciprocals for yield and its components. Highly significant gca and sca variances were observed for most of the yield traits. The additive gene effects were found to be predominant. Both gca and sca variances were found to be important for different characters. KPMR-327, KPMR-288, NDP-93 came out to be good general combiner and crosses as HUP-15 x KPMR-327. KPMR-327 x LFP179 were observed to be superior cross combinations for yield contributing characters.
