Correlation and path analysis were studied for ten characters in thirty chickpea genotypes. Character association studies indicated that total dry matter per plant, number of pods per plant and number of secondary branches per plant were having highly significant positive association with grain yield while, number of pods per plant was negatively associated with days to 50% flowering in all the environments studied. However, path coefficient analysis revealed that total dry matter per plant had highest direct effect on grain yield followed by harvest index and high indirect effects through number of secondary branches per plant, number of primary branches per plant and plant height.
