Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to estimate the components of genetic variance, heritability and genetic advance as per cent of mean for yield and related traits in the cross K-4686 × HPU-7 using North Carolina Design-III. The dominance variance (σD2) was high for plant height, pods/plant, days to maturity and clusters/plant while the same estimates attained a lower value for days to 50% flowering, seed yield, biomass, pods/cluster, 100-seed weight, seeds/pod and pod length indicating the preponderance of additive gene action in their inheritance. The heritability in broad sense was high for pod length followed by clusters/plant.
