Influence of seed rate, spacings, date of sowing and storage containers on storability of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.}

Soybean seeds harvested from a field trial consisting of 3 seed rates (60, 75, 90 kg/ha), 2 row spacings (30, 45 cm) and 2 sowing times (1^st week of June, 3^rd week of June) were equally divided into three parts and stored in airtight tin containers, gunny bags and polythene bags. Seeds were tested for their germination percentage at one-month interval from harvest till next crop season. Seeds obtained from crop sown in 3^rd week of June resulted in significantly higher germination per cent than seeds obtained from crop sown in 1^st week of June at the end of the study. Similarly seeds stored in polythene bags also resulted in higher germination percentage over other storage containers.
