A field experiment was conducted during rainy season of 1999–2000 to find out most suitable genotype and land configuration for exploiting higher yield potential of soybean under rainfed condition on Vertisol. The soybean genotype MAUS-32 gave maximum seed yield (3491 kg/ha) which was at part with JS-335 (3391 kg/ha) and significantly superior over MAUS-47 {2824 kg/ha). Slmilarly, variety JS-335 also recorded significantly higher yield than MAUS-47. In land configuration treatments, opening of furrow after every 3rd row recorded significantly higher yield over opening of furrow after every 6th row and flat bed. Opening of furrow after every 6th row was also significantly superior to flat bed.
