Abstract

The population of specific rhizobia i.e. Rhizobium leguminosarum phaseoli caused nodulation in French bean crop was enumerated by the indirect plant infection test following the most probable method. This method is based on the ability of a specific rhizobia to produce nodules in a selected species of legume. The population of specific rhizobia i.e. Rhizobium leguminosarom phased varied from 2.5 × 102 to 218 × 102 g−1 in the studied soils of Himachal Pradesh.
