Forty genotypes of blackgram were grouped into seven clusters. Cluster I contained 15 genotypes, followed by nine in cluster IV, eight in cluster II, four in cluster III, two in cluster VI and one each in cluster V and VII. Highest intra-cluster D2 value was observed for cluster I, followed by cluster IV. The maximum inter-cluster D2 value was observed between cluster II and IV, followed by III and VI. The cluster means estimated for 12 characters revealed that the cluster II with eight genotypes had the lowest mean value for days to 50% flowering and maturity. Genotypes in cluster IV showed highest mean value for seeds per pod, 100 seed weight, grain yield per plant and protein content.
