Influence of mother crop nutrition on seed yield and quality chracteristics in lablab (Lablab purpureus L.)

The field and laboratory experiment was carried out in seed crop of lablab during June 2004 with two levels of nitrogen and potassium (6, 12 and 12, 18 g pit⁻¹, respectively) and three levels of phosphorus (12, 18 and 24 g pit⁻¹) comprising seven treatments (F₀ to F₆). The result revealed the significant superiority of the NPK combination @ 12:18:18 NPK g pit⁻¹ as basal with 6N and 8K g pit⁻¹ as top dressing at 30 days after sowing increased the seed yield (604 g) and the quality characteristics of the resultant seeds viz100 seed weight (37.66 g), germination (94%), root and shoot length (29.2 and 31.6 cm, respectively), drymatter production (163 mg seedlings⁻¹⁰) and vigour index (5530).
