This field experiment was conducted to assess the effects of applying biomass from Cajanus cajanto the soil on the yield of yam (Dioscorea rotundata) intercropped with maize (Zea mays). Results obtained show that biomass from Cajanus cajan enhanced number of tubers, weight of tubers and yield per hectare of yam as well as number of green cobs, weight of green cobs and yield per hectare of maize. For example yam and maize yields were 10.78 and 3.98 tons/ha respectively compared to control yields of 9.87 and 3.40 tons/ha respectively.
