Genetic divergence, adaptability and genotypic response to YMV in blackgram

D² analysis showed that the cluster number and compositions varied in different environments. Only few were most stable divergent genotypes. Geographic distribution not exclusively determined cluster composition. The adaptability analysis showed that some genotypes recorded general adaptation, whereas other adapted to favorable or adverse environment. No close relation between genetic divergence and adaptation was observed. Genotypic response to YMV attack under field condition during Pre-kharif based on progress of infection between plants and within plants confirmed that stable divergent genotypes with either general adaptation or specific adaptation (favorable or adverse) not always exhibited high level of field tolerance to YMV. It was suggested that genotypic control would seem to be the potent factor in determining level of tolerance to YMV.
