Abstract

Since old ages biotechnology was accomplished as fermentation in wine and vinegar production, although new biotechnologies or molecular biotechnology has evolved in later half of twentieth century. Molecular biology has advanced at an unprecedented speed in the history of technological development. Its growth curve is rising precipitously and this trend will continue for quite some time. Advances in information technology have also helped in the speedy advances in biotechnology. We have entered a great historic changeover into the biotech century. The twenty-first century belongs to the biological sciences. Scientists have unraveled the genetic code of life, unfolded the years of biological evolution. We can understand the biological revolution in proper and can now manipulate living organisms. The new biotechnologies are already reshaping agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, mining, energy, bio-remediation, pharmaceuticals, neutraceuticals, medicine diagnostics, food and sip, etc.
