A unique traditional practice of the people of Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka (Southwest India), is that they utilise a variety of plant species for nutritional purposes. With changing time, such unique practices are vanishing and are restricted largely to the remote rural areas. Attention to identify the nutritional novelties, mode of formulations and effectiveness of plant species need further exploration.
