Abstract

In the study, the present status, botany, cultivation, chemicals constituents and genetic diversity are described in an aromatic seed spice, Trachyspermum ammi L. Strategies for improvement are also discussed. Trachyspermum ammi is an annual herbaceous plant which has an aromatic chemical compounds. Molecular markers are used for study the genetic diversity in this Apiaceae family plant. Morphological and biochemical markers tend to be restricted to relatively few traits, display a low degree of polymorphism, are often environmentally variable in their manifestation and depend on the expression of several unlinked genes.
