Mass spectrometry is booming due to the diversification of its usage but still this technique is having one major drawback called the matrix effect. This is the suppression or enhancement of analyte response due to the co-elution of matrix moieties at the RT of analyte. This is due to the presence of some endogenous or exogenous molecules while analysis. This leads to erroneous results while analysis. During method development these parameters should be optimised precisely to eradicate such issues in longer run. This review article comprises the facts and figures with the support of inhouse experiments to understand and eradicate the matrix effect during bioanalysis of drugs.
