Abstract

Studies on the insect fauna especially gall midges (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are relatively scanty in comparison to the Indian mainland. Only 13species of Cecidomyiidae have been reported so far from this region. This study reports a predatory gall midge, Lestodiplosis triangulate Grover and Bakshi, 1978 as a new record to Andaman Islands. Previously this species was reported from Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh). The known distribution of this species now includes the Andaman Islands as well.
