Synergism in incomplete sampling frame using cluster sampling design

Abstract

In field surveys or large scale surveys, when there are groups of contiguous elementary units or compact areas having finite number of elementary units called clusters, the problem of incomplete frame cannot be ruled out. In this paper, estimation problem of total number of units of the target population and of mean and variance of the character(s) under study assuming that when the nonincluded units in the frame are random i.e. they do not differ significantly from those listed in the frame with respect to the character under study is dealt with. Suggested methodology has been substantiated through a hypothetical numerical problem which convincingly shows that the newly developed synergized framework is superior to the one obtained without considering the non-included units. This paper aims to present synergism while estimating from incomplete sampling frame.
