The objective of this study is to explore employee perceptions of important factors in successful implementation of a learning organization. The research relates to a financial firm in one of the cities in East Malaysia, which was done using a questionnaire to collect data; and conducting interviews as a follow up instrument to obtain in-depth information. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), which covered two types of statistical analysis: the descriptive statistic and inferential statistic. The result of the study showed that all the tested independent variables (organizations’ culture, senior management commitment, managers’ skills, employees’ attitudes, organization of work and human resource development resources) were perceived as important factors in the drive towards a learning organization. Human resource development resources were found to be the dominant factor that influenced the successful learning organization. Based on the findings, implications for companies are discussed and further research avenues suggested.
