Violence against women in Kashmir is reported to have increased over the past two decades. There are various gender issues that ought to get due space in the press. The current study aims to analyse the nature and amount of coverage given to gender issues, the leading English dailies published from Jammu and Kashmir, viz Greater Kashmir, Rising Kashmir and Kashmir Times. The study aims to assess as to what kind of gender issues are mostly covered by the leading local dailies. It also aims to assess the treatment given to such stories and ascertain seriousness of sample dailies in covering gender issues.
