Mobile Communication and Media Convergence A Case Study Of Sathyabama University

Abstract

In today's world Mobile phones play a dominant role in social connectivity. In the past two decades mobile device market has grown enormously. According to TRAI, 10 April 2015 report, in India out of 100 citizens'77.58 were mobile phone users. When we compare with other countries India has second highest mobile phone users next to china. It is evident that people go crazy behind mobile phones. Emergence of mobile technology paved a new path to media convergence. We are yet to witness new device, application and technology incorporated in the device. Even though the device is meant for communication people always look for more option to play video games, to listen music, to watch films, to browse Internet and so on, we see this device as an entertainment medium. The expectation we have is more and the impact will be larger. Mobile phones feed all our desires consciously and unconsciously. In global level mobile device is considered as a great tool to market ideas and product. The young and energetic minds of India fell as a prey to this technology because they consider this as a reliable source of entertainment 24/7. The rapid growth of this device has changed our society and environment. In this study of the impact of mobile phones and its popularity among young users is done.
