Academic success is regarded as a crucial factor in determining one’s overall potential and competence. In many academic contexts, a student’s grade point average is considered their level of academic achievement. In today’s fiercely competitive world, present academic success has come to be seen as a predictor of future success, and teacher education is not an exception. Therefore, it becomes essential to identify the variables that correlate with improved academic achievement.
The current study was conducted in this context to investigate any potential associations between student teachers’ academic success and their academic background. The participants of the study were the D.El.Ed. students of DIETs of districts Lucknow and Sitapur.
the study showed that factors including gender, type of school, and educational programme had a big impact on their academic success. Academic achievement was somewhat influenced by the medium of instruction, but not considerably. It was also shown that students who excelled in their high school curriculum also excelled in their university studies.
This demonstrates that students’ past academic performance is the best predictor of their future success and that their academic background has a deep impression on their academic achievement.
