The Political lm genre in Indian cinema has been dened by its ability to adapt, encompassing a wide range of themes from historical revolutions and nation-building to contemporary issues like identity politics, social justice, and corruption. This study attempts to shed light on how Indian political cinema not only reects current political circumstances but also shapes public opinion and policy debates by analyzing these themes and narratives.
This analysis seeks to unearth the lm's underlying socio-political statement hidden in this lm. The contribution of "Maamannan" to the present examination of these important sociopolitical issues is critically assessed in this essay, focusing on how the lm “Maamannan” politically inuences the audience and the impact has been studied using the methodology of Semiotic analysis. Finally, this research aims to widen the debate in India on the junction of politics and lm by addressing the dynamic socio politics of the lm “Maamannan” on society.
The research aims to use a framework that blends the broader world of Indian political lm and, more specially, the detailed political environment of Tamil cinema to analyze the layers of storytelling, character development, and visual aesthetics in "Maamannan."
The larger framework of political lms in Indian cinema is then narrowed to the specisocio-political settings of Tamil cinema, with the main objective of "Maamannan." Mari Selvaraj's well-known Tamil lm, released in 2023, has emerged as a signiant cultural relic of contemporary Tamil cinema. It has received praise for its stimulating storyline and commitment to addressing current socio-political issues.
