India’s entertainment industry has seen a shift with the rise of Over-the-Top (OTT) platforms. OTT services initially surfaced in India in the late 2000s with the launch of websites like Hot star (now Jio Hotstar) and Eros Now. OTT media services have emerged as a disruptive force in the entertainment industry, drastically altering how people consume and disseminate information.
The present study is focusing majorly on violence and sexual content portrayed in the Mirzapur web series. The use of vulgarity in Mirzapur web series is not merely stylistic, it is a purposeful narrative device that illustrates the social standing, power relationships, and individual development of the characters.
The research uses episode-specific data to analyse the time-based distribution of violent material in Mirzapur Season-1, finding that the first nine episodes include 1294 seconds (or 21.34 minutes) of violent content.
This analysis focuses on the time span dedicated to the portrayal of sexuality in Mirzapur Season-1, based on the given episode-wise time data. The total time for the first nine episodes is 411 seconds (6.51 minutes). All episodes combined have 411 seconds (or 6.51 minutes) devoted to sexuality-related sequences. The story and character development are influenced by sexuality; however, it is not as significant as violence or action. This study helps entertainment industries, especially for the upcoming web series to focus more on storyline rather depending on violence and sexual content.
