Abstract

Television holds an important place in our lives. Its impact is being seen amongst all sections and groups of the society. In India TV industry has a remarkable history.It has grown from terrestrial television to today's satellite broadcasting or digital television. DTH is one of the new technologies providing varied facilities to its viewers. Today, India has 9.5 million DTH homes and everyday the subscribers to DTH TV is increasing.At this juncture, it is necessary to know whether this digital technology is worth subscribing to. Is It beneficial to its viewers and should viewers shift to digital TV? The present study talks about the utilization of DTH TV by 80 families-what did they gain, and what problems they faced while utilizing it, in comparison to earlier TV connection.
