The present study is an attempt to ascertain the impact of the factors representing the quality of home environment on cognitive development of the children of 4–6 years age. It encompasses age-wise and gender-wise frequencies of children according to level of environmental stimulation received at home; correlations between scores of cognitive aspects and quality of home environment, and impact of quality of home environment on cognitive development of children. The study reveals that home environment including-family interaction, play opportunities, availability of literature and total stimulation have a significant relationship with child's performance on all cognitive aspects, whereas mass media exposure did not have much effect on child's performance. The greater the family interaction with the children, higher was their cognitive score.
