‘Development’ has been a fiercely debated concept and so is the concept of ‘Communication for Development’, theoretically, socially and politically, and both are inherently complex and ambiguous. Development is often equated with modernization, industrialization, social change, empowerment, progress, growth and so on. Different group of scholars have different opinion about development and the role of communication in/for development. Similarly, different segment of population also have different opinion and perception about development as a process and as a consequence. This paper is an attempt to unravel the minds of an overtly active segment of the population, i.e., the youth (aged 18–25 years) about ‘Development’ and ‘Communication for Development’. The findings of the study may give a valuable insight to the planners working over communication policies aimed at development.
