Abstract

This study will employ Entman's framing theory as an attempt to examine how antiwar.com has portrayed the story of the Syrian War. The United State's decision to withdraw from intervention in Syria, took place fifteen days after it decided to take a military action against it. How a story framed by media can shape the way the Public think about an issue, while being an indicator of the newsmakers ’perspectives. Alternative media claim to depict a diverse perspective on issues in comparison to mainstream media. The study uses a combination of content and discourse analysis to analyze the text of antiwar.com's thirty-one opinion articles in the fifteen day time span of the United State's government's decision to intervene and withdrawal from the war in Syria. The study concludes that the stories talk on the perspective of the Assad government rather than the US government or the Syrian opposition.
