Tackling violence against women is becoming a major concern and challenge for the countries in Asia. The use of digital devices by women can be a potent way of protecting them from potential crimes. With growing penetration of smart phones, the device can come to their rescue in raising alarm for their safety and security. This paper examines the attitude, awareness and experiences of women towards such apps. Working women selected through snowball sampling across various professions were extensively interviewed. The study highlights the reasons for effectiveness or otherwise of such apps and gives an understanding of their scope.
