Research interest in this area is on the increase in the West since the middle of the 20th century, more actively since 1980s. Such interest is lacking in the East, especially in developing countries like India. With increase in the standard of living, shorter working hours and longer discretionary time, research on the economics of time use become necessary. This study is a humble and maiden attempt to fill this void.
