It thinks. Therefore it is. In the Knowledge Economy of tomorrow (or should we say today), the learning organization alone will survive.
With the onset of globalization, privatization, disinvestment and FDI in India, there has been a paradigm shift in the focal issues which matter for organization growth (and survival). By far, a learning organization isthe only paradigm for people systemsin the New Age.
The ability to anticipate, scan, analyze, disseminate and implement ingenious and innovative ideas and thoughts based on which the strategy is decided in the marketplace, products are blended with superior technology, disruptive inventions are added/modified to the product cart, innovation and originality of service are introduced which become a customers delight rather than mere customer satisfaction will pave the way towards the creation of a corporation wherein excellence is in the blood of the organization.
The human brain, which is byfarthe most intelligent andanalytical among various animal species -is the fountainhead of the KM (Knowledge Management) splurge. Be it the Nano (Tata Motors), i-pod or delivery of Domino's pizza within 30 minutes - otherwise free of cost offer, are all the products of ingenuinity, originality and innovation, of the supreme power of the human brain ‘to think’.
Collective learning is a key feature, wherein there is holistic learning through out the organization via IT enabled technology ie. Knowledge portals, knowledge maps, e-mail, intranet and electronic card catalogues.
The applications of KM include excellence in business performance, service, products and continuous, sustainable, integrated learning at organization level across horizontals and verticals togain themuch valued competitive edge.
It is this competitive edge, which will differentiate the have's from the have not's, the leaders from the followers, the surviving from the declining.
Organizational excellence perse is achievement of organization objectives through best practices in Management and Technology. So why not benchmark best practices rather than follow them and what better way than to adopt and impIement KM a priority not an option, benchmark best practices rather than follow them and what better way than to adopt and implement KM a priority not an option.
