Newer Bio-indicators in Forensic Odontology

Forensic odontology is a branch of forensic medicine which, deals with the proper examination, handling and presentation of dental evidence in court of law. Forensic odontology has very crucial role in the identification of those individuals who cannot be identified visually or by any other means. Palatal rugae pattern, DNA analysis are the newer bioindicators in forensic odontology that have been employed successfully in positive human identification now a days. In this article the clinical usefulness of palantine rugae and DNA analysis in determining the identity of humans has been discussed.
