The high rate of suicide in women has drawn many researchers’ attention to different phases of menstrual cycle as a biological factor.
The purpose of the study is to know the relationship between menstrual cycle and hanging.
A cross sectional study of a total of 34 cases of hanging was conducted in the Department of Forensic Medicine, S.S.G. Hospital mortuary, attached to Government Medical College, Baroda over a period of 12 months from October 2013 to September 2014.
Total number of cases of hanging during study period was 33. Mean age of females was 26.24 years.
There is significant relationship between suicide by hanging in women during reproductive age group and menstruation.
