Determination of age of majority of Manipuri girls from the radiological examination of the joints

So far, there is no published data from Manipur, regarding the age determination from radiological examination of joints. Regression formulae and standard errors from the epiphyseal union around the elbow, knee, wrist joints and the pelvis has not been derived before. In this study, X-rays of the elbow, knee, wrist joints and pelvis were taken in 50 Meitei (the majority group Manipuri) girls to determine the age of majority. The time of fusion around the elbow, knee, wrist joints and the pelvis were found to be more or less the same with majority of the workers and differed from some. Regression Formulae of the four joints individually and combined were derived as follows: Yc=18+(0)X; Yc=18+(0)X; Yc=18+(0)X; Yc=16.16+0.87X; Yc=9.53+3.12X; with the corresponding standard errors: ±0.14; ±0.14; ±0.37; ±0.62; ±0.40respectively.
