The aim of the study was to find out whether chieloscopy can be a tool in determination of sex.
To determine sex using Suzuki's classification of lip prints.
The study was conducted in peripheral centre of Community Dentistry department on subjects above 12 years of age Matted lipstick was applied evenly on the lips of each participant and lip-prints were taken on a white smooth bond paper. They were visually analyzed according to Suzuki's classification of lip-prints, and the most common pattern in the lip-prints was attributed as the characteristic pattern for that sex.
The study was conducted on 94 subjects and the results showed that type II lip pattern was common among males and type I among females.
The results of the present study have shown the significant difference in lip patterns among different sexes.
