Expressive Art Therapy uses creative expression to provide individuals with a safe outlet for the expression of thoughts and emotions that successfully facilitate recovery from any kind of psychological distress. Although it is a new discipline, it borrows its theoretical fundament from the school of psychoanalysis, but it has its own distinctive characteristics. This paper explores how various Expressive Art Therapies like music, visual arts therapy, dance-movement therapy, creative writing, drama and photography can help reduce stress and aid the process of healing towards mental wellbeing. The paper also discussed the challenges and limitations of the Expressive Art Therapy.
