The present paper is intended to depict an eccentric, rational and aggressive image of women characters portrayed by Vijay Tendulkar in his plays, particularly, in The Vultures. Vijay Tendulkar was well known to raise his voice against the vices and depravities spread in contemporary Indian society, mainly in the context of men-women relationships, through his literary works. Play, The Vultures, selected for the present study is one of the controversial plays of Vijay Tendulkar to portray the women-related issues. In fact, depicting the issues of women is a favourite aspect of Vijay Tendulkar’s personality. Women characters are treated with great comprehension and sympathy in the play. Most of the time, his women characters are exploited and suppressed at the hands of egoistic patriarchal society. Rigid tradition of contemporary Indian society made the women slaves and Vijay Tendulkar had been attacking these traditions continuously. Hence, exploitations of the women by male and taking a strong role against these exploitations are frequently explicated in the works of Vijay Tendulkar.
