Pithecellobium dulce: A power house of biofunctional attributes ready to be exploited for development of functional foods

Abstract

Pithecellobium dulce is a commonly used medicinal plant which has been traditionally used for treatment of wide array of health ailments. In this review, we have discussed the therapeutic and functional properties of the different parts of the plants such as leaves, seed, bark, root, flower, fruits and fruit peel. Special emphasis has been given to the bio-functional properties of fruits which can be utilized for further development of functional and therapeutic foods.
