The rising demand and passion for medicinal plants are leading to a renewed interest in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and other forms of natural remedies especially for cure and management of several diseases. There has been colossal exploitation of the natural medicinal flora to meet the demand. Scientifically planned and organized thematic plantation of medicinal plants can play a useful role in their ex-situ conservation. Establishment of herbal gardens at social places and houses will create awareness and enhances knowledge of medicinal plants among the stakeholders and public sector. We discuss here the establishment of thematic Herbal Gardens that would help in conservation of medicinal plants at the local community level in India.
