Since its inception in 2001, NMPB has been executing tremendous efforts in promoting Research and Development (R&D) activities and encouraging government and private universities/research institutions/organizations across the country. The present reports highlights the significant achievements of R&D component under NMPB from 20012002 to 2023-2024. Overall, 418 R&D projects were supported by NMPB to various apex research organizations/institutes. Research projects on 223 identified medicinal plant species have been supported and new agro-technology of 104 medicinal plant species has been published. Moreover, among the completed R&D projects, outcomes of five unique projects have been processed for the patent. Such enduring achievements would gradually help the country to meet its international obligations in research and development activities of medicinal plants.
