Abstract

The present study reports the chemical composition and antibacterial activity of the essential oil of Ferula lapidosa. The essential oil was obtained from the flowers of the plant by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Sixty-nine compounds were identified from the essential oil obtained from the flowers of F. lapidosa by using GC-MS. F. lapidosa oil exhibited a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against the selected test strains of bacteria. In this study, the essential oil of F. lapidosa plant was found to contain bioactive substances especially against microbes.
