Abstract

The present study focused on the nutritional profiling and health benefits of Grewia asiatica L. fruits. Fresh mature fruits were trended in Indian market because of their sweetness and presence of abundant macro and micronutrients. High content of iron (38.80 ppm/g), zinc (28.82 ppm/g), phosphorous (22.88 ppm/g), sugar (9.48%), sodium (7.21 ppm/g), manganese (5.31 ppm/g) and magnesium (4.55 ppm/g) were recorded in fruits. The fruits were also found enriched with several phytochemicals such as starch (4.51%), phenolics (4.29%), flavonoids (1.87%), carbohydrates (22.17%), fiber (5.25%) and lipids (2.74%) which are useful for health benefits. The nutritional value of Grewia fruit was found significant to be used it as value added products and health rich resource in regular dietary health benefits.
