The efficacy of garlic (Allium sativum Linn.) extract was studied on some haematological parameters in female albino rats. The garlic extract was tested in three different doses, 1 ml, 2 ml and 4 ml/kg body weight daily for a period of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days. The results indicated a significant increase in RBC count, haemoglobin content and haematocrit value when rats were given low (1 ml/kg body weight) and medium (2 ml/kg body weight) doses whereas at higher (4 ml/kg body weight) dose these parameters decreased significantly. Further, there was a significant decrease in platelet count at low and medium doses and a significant increase at higher dose. WBC count increases significantly at all the doses at selected time period as compared to control.
