The present study is an effort to save the precious heritage of local folks and traditional healers of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh regarding uses of herbal remedies against gynaecological disorders. The indigenous knowledge was gathered through interactions with rural population through informal interviews with the informants in their local language. This is the first-hand information on 45 ethno-medicinal plant species belonging to 30 families used to cure gynaecological disorders by ethnic populace. The largest numbers of 25% plant species were used to treat leucorrhoea, 24% plant species for menstrual ailments, 17% plant species for gonorrhoea, 9% plant species for both delivery and abortion related issues and 8% used for lactation and as contraceptives.
