Abstract

The chemical composition of leaf volatile oil of Toddalia asiatica L. var. floribunda was analysed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Fifty eight compounds were identified and the major compounds were 1, 2-Dimethoxy-4-(2-methoxyethenyl) benzene (29.25%), β-pinene (13.91%), decanal (12.01%), bicyclogermacrene (5.22%), β-elemene (4.18%) and β- caryophyllene (3.15). Ethers (29.43%) form the majority of the compounds followed by sesquiterpenes (21.88%), monoterpenes (17.97%) and the alcohols (14.97%).
