The level of human rights violations at the hands of insurgent groups in Manipur has become a matter of serious concern with both civilians and journalists caught in the crossfire. This study focusses on the prevalent complex situation of lawlessness in the state of Manipur and how media persons have been threatened and targeted, especially by various militants groups. It discusses the issue of human rights violations on the basis of facts and incidents that have taken place in the past and recent times. Attempts have also been made as to how media houses in the state function under tremendous pressure and risk as each of the armed rival groups competes for media space in order to carry out its agenda in the public domain.
