Abstract

The 100% infected seeds of soybean by purple stain disease caused by Cercospora kikuchii showed 31.96% reduction in seed germination and 60.19% reduction in seedling vigour index. Among all seed dressers thiram @ 0.2%, mancozeb + captan @ 0.3% (1:1 ratio) and thiram + carbendazim @ 0.3% (1:1 ratio) were found significantly superior over control treatment and rest of seed dressers in increasing seed germination. These treatments showed 76%, 74%, 72% seed germination, respectively as against 47% in the control treatments. Among all seed dressers copper oxychlorides @ 0.25% produced maximum seedling vigour index 1360. It was followed by thiram @ 0.2% (1232), thiram + carbendazim @ 0.3% (1:1 ratio) (1174) and propioconazole @ 0.05% (1171).
