Twenty-seven genotypes of rice (oryza sativa) were evaluated for adaptability over four different environments two soil types & two fertilizer doses. The variance due to genotype, environment and genotype × environment interaction were highly significant and large portion of these interactions was due to linear regression. Highly significant mean squares were observed for linear as well as non-linear components. The stability analysis showed that none of the genotype was stable fully stable for all the characters under all the environments. Genotypes with higher mean and unit regression were unstable, the stable genotype did not have higher mean performance. For grain yield seven genotypes including three promising lines & four checks exhibited their performance stable namely R-1208-453-2-302-1, R-1207-243-1-223-1, R-1208-306-1-334-1, IR-64, Mahamaya, Indira A-9 & kasturi with moderate to high yield regression and least deviation from regression.
